Wonderfully soft, colorful and loaded with texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!

Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this bi-color colorway there are shades of a Baby Pink to a Smokey Rose varying from light to medium, with occasional areas of an almost Lilac/blue cast. The greens run from an aqua where they're influenced by the pinks, to a fairly true medium green. Where any two colors come together or overlap, they create beautiful mixed shading. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture and uniqueness. Ribbon thickness is mostly on the thinner size from 1/2" - 1" but there are a few sections where it is wider, up to about 2". Use them phat or cut them into thinner ribbon as these are SO VERSATILE! Shown in different lights, this is a really muted, vintage themed colorway. First picture is accurate. Second was taken under flash and makes it look much brighter than it actually is. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, wreaths or plying into your OOAK yarns. These colors are NOT typically color fast. If you're planning on wet felting these or adding them to a clothing item that will be washed, you'd want to soak/wash them in a mordant like vinegar to bleed out and then set color.

Listing is for five or ten yards.
