ULTRA soft and drapey, this ribbon is of a soft and subtle French Vanilla base color with a light luster. I asked my dyer to experiment with occasional light color touches here and there to add points of interest to an otherwise very subtle color. He chose a light rose and it's perfect. It's not all over this colorway but just a hint here and there - The last picture is more rose than what you'd find in most portions. Because it was an experiment, he didn't make a lot of it so I don't have a great deal of it.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is an incredibly versatile color. Most of these ribbons measure about 1" across. Some have lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them as they come or strip them into really thin ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths, tassels or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
