Wonderfully soft, drapey and full of texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this colorway there are purple shades from violet, deep purple or deep eggplant. First pictures are showing flashback from my camera. Because this is so deep, my camera always takes a flash picture. which is okay but it makes it look too bright/shiny. I grabbed a color swatch off the net that that is quite accurate. The last picture is of my Electric Violets ribbon, which is brighter and more vivid, also listed in my shop. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Occasionally there will be a little pattern here or there. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful jewel toned colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to 1" - 1 1/2" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for five or ten yards. Choose from drop-down box at upper right.
