Super soft and drapey, this ribbon has a wonderful luster - not bright but not at all matte. It is the cream color of freshly baled straw, a soft, earthy and very pleasing light gold. Not far off the color of real butter.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is an incredibly versatile color. Most of these ribbons measure 1/2" to 3/4"" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them as they come or strip them into really thin ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
