Super soft and drapey, this smokey hued ribbon has a light luster and is just beautiful. Earthtone gray with the slightest hint of Lilac. This was gray to start and over-dyed with a very light Lilac so it's far more silver than lilac and SOOOOO soft. I think my camera is picking up too much Lilac. It is a little more to the gray than these pics.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a muted, subtle and versatile color, falling somewhere between gray and a smokey lilac. Thinner than many Sari Ribbon strips, most of these ribbons measure 1/2" to about 3/4" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
