One of the very lightest in the blue-green color range with just enough variegated gray/silver to make it really subtle, this is a wonderfully earthy and cooling two tone colorway that is incredibly soft and full of texture. Its shading is somewhat similar to Sea Green (a shade or so lighter with a slightly more blue-green hue) with the light gray-green of sea foam. Great for neutral tone projects, there is no brightness to this colorway and it has hues of light misty green with hints here and there of blue-green, gray-green and a tad bit of beige-green here and there. On occasion you'll find an unexpected color like the light pink hue shown in the last photo. This is not common but possible. Because these colors are over-dyed, there is various shading which depends on what color was used to over-dye. These are usually very pleasant surprises! Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media! This particular ribbon is softer/lighter than most, which are already very soft! If you like soft and earthy greens, you'll love this gorgeous colorway!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some edges are fringed,frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful earthy, yet soothing colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to about 1" across with some areas thicker, up to 2" or wider. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
