Wonderfully soft and full of texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this bi-color colorway there are shades of Rose varying from light to medium, with occasional areas of an almost Lilac cast. The grays run from a light, almost silver to a deep charcoal. Where any two colors come together or overlap, they create beautiful mixed shading. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture and uniqueness. Ribbon thickness is mostly on the thinner size from 1/2" - 1" but there are a few sections where it is wider, up to about 2". Use them phat or cut them into thinner ribbon as these are SO VERSATILE! Shown in different lights, this is a really muted, vintage themed colorway. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
