This unique retro print sari ribbon is black and charcoal print on an ivory/cream base. Lively and somewhat abstract, this will go wonderfully in shabby chic, BOHO design, wall hangings, etc... It will add character to an otherwise sleepy white, ivory or black project. Excellent for spinning art yarn, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking, journaling and fantastic mixed media! This particular ribbon is softer/lighter than most, which are already very soft! If you like soft and earthy greens, you'll love this gorgeous colorway! Shown as different random patterns with same color mix. 4th picture is a close up of a 2" wide strip of ribbon with one of the prints. Shown in various lights and from close up to show pattern, to farther back to show general impression.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful earthy, yet soothing colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to about 1" across with some areas thicker, up to 2" or wider. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for five yards. The wide ribbons can be torn or cut into a narrower ribbon if desired.
