Upgrades include everything you need to add a new size to your wheel base. These are brand new upgrades with the Corian Whorl.
A head (attaches into the base of your wheel)
A flyer (has a back with whorls, arms, and an orifice bar and holds the bobbin)
A hook orifice bar (attaches to the flyer magnetically)
A bobbin (slides onto the flyer and is secured to the back with a magnet)
8 oz setup fits the following wheel models: MACH III, Firefly, Hopper, and Echo.
12 oz upgrade fits the following wheel models: Pollywog. Upgrade comes with 3D Printed Bobbin.
16 oz setup fits the following wheel models: MACH III, Firefly, Hopper. Echo upgrades are out of stock and not being made anymore.
32 oz setup fits the following wheel models: MACH III, Firefly, and Hopper.
64 oz setup fits the following wheel models: MACH III and Firefly.
***The 64 oz setup is the largest bobbin size in the industry. It can fit over 4 pounds of worsted weight single. It was originally designed for the Firefly, as a production unit for spinning and plying bulk quantities of yarn. It also fits the MACH III - although most spinners prefer using the electric Firefly base to power the momentum, rather than treadling this workhorse manually. This setup is great for the fiber artist who wants all the yardage they could ever dream of. It is perfect for making huge art yarn and bulky skeins, but engineered to spin finer yarns as well. Test Spinners were able to spin worsted to super bulky on this flyer. Due to the high tension required to pull heavier yarns onto the bobbin, this setup is not appropriate for spinning fine weight yarns. Powerful. With this flyer, the wheel does not stop on a dime, like their other wheels. It is so heavy that the momentum it has is perfect for spinning large quantities of single or plying with thread. But it is not designed for stop-and-start fine tune or embellished work. Not available yet in a package deal but if you already own a Firefly or MACH III you can purchase just the 64 oz upgrade. If you do not own a SpinOlution wheel, you can purchase a Firefly Base or a MACH III Base with the 64 oz Upgrade to build your own custom wheel.
