Super soft and drapey, this earthy color is deep and multi-faceted. Similar in color to my Smokey Coral but this color is more muted and smokey hued - almost as much a purple berry color as coral. I considered calling it Rusted Plum but it's a bit lighter as I would picture a dusty rose. Rusted Rose would work also. As is typical with the ribbon colorways there is an occasional small section of an unexpected color from overdyeing. It's unlikely you'll get much in the smaller yardage like 5 or 10 yards and not all skeins will have that small bit either, but I photographed a skein with a bit of variegation to show the possibility.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues, though there is less variation in this colorway than most. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a unique and yummy colorway. A bit thinner than some of my colorways, most of these ribbons measure 1/4" to 3/4" across in some areas, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths, tassels or purses.
