Wonderfully soft and full of texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this mostly bi-color colorway there are greens (Key Lime & Chartreuse) and earthy brown tones, from a Taupe to a Chocolate and Bronze - all the deep and rich colors you would expect to see in a rainforest. Where the two colors come together they create beautiful mixed shading. Some of the ribbon has a satiny shine while others a bit more matte. Color repeat is 13" - 17" on average. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful and one-of-a-kind colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/4" to nearly 1" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
