Wonderfully soft and full of texture, both visual and physical. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this colorway there are multiple shades of green from light to medium with Lime, Kelly, Chartreuse, Limetreuse and a bit of gold now and then. The Lime will vary in shade from a light Key Lime Pie color to the color of an actual lime peel. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Occasionally there will be a little pattern here or there. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beatiful jewel toned colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/4" to 1/2" with a few nearly 1" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
These Sari Silk Ribbons should only be washed in cold water to prevent color bleeding.
