This is a yummy and fun filled colorway that is incredibly soft and full of texture. Its shading calls to mind a meadow, with shady areas which are a deeper green with a hint of blue, sunny areas which have a bit of lime in the bright grass and tons of shading in between - all greens with just a tad of a blue influence in a few areas. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media! This particular ribbon is softer/lighter than most, which are already very soft! If you like soft and earthy greens, you'll love this gorgeous colorway!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful earthy, yet soothing colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to about 1" across with some areas thicker, up to 2" or wider. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
