Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this listing there are multiple shades of Greens, all toward the earthy/not bright side. There are Dark Sage, Hunter and Tartan. If you buy a smaller portion (such as 5 or 10 yards) and you don't have a tape measure handy, just take five large steps for 5 yards and 10 large steps for 10 yards, and you'll have an idea of how much ribbon you get.
Dark Sage is probably the earthiest of the three. Hunter is deep but not bright at all. Tartan has a blue influence, with more of a teal shade.
This listing is for your choice of one of the three greens pictured. You can choose which one and how much you want of it and that's what we'll send. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture and uniqueness. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful jewel toned colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to nearly 1 1/4" across. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
We occasionally have the variegated skeins with teals mixed with other greens & blues.
