Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. In this colorway there are multiple shades of golds, from an light and earthy gold to a bit of light lemon shading here and there. Dijon earthy and wonderful. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a unique and yummy colorway. Most of these ribbons measure 1/4" to 1/2" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them as they come or strip them into really thin ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for 5 yards, 10 yards, or full skein. Skein yardage is approximately 40 yards. Choose from drop-down box at upper right.
