Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. This yummy colorway is made up of lighter greens, not really that bright. There is a very light olive, some lemon/lime and the same Chartreuse color as my merino color of the same name. There's even a small splash of a green-gold here and there from a patterned piece. Very spring, a tad bright but yet earthy. I really like this colorway! First picture is most accurate. The others have the right color but make it look a bit too bright. Some of the ribbon may have a light pattern, some have a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture and uniqueness. Shown in different lights, this is a stunning colorway. Most of these ribbons measure 1/2" - 1". Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for 5, 10 yards or a full skein. Yardage on a full skein averages 45 - 55 yards. Choose from drop-down box at upper right.
