Wonderfully soft and full of texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media! Brighter and bluer than Teal, this is a really hot color this year.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. Glacier runoff is always the most beautiful blue/green hues and this is what inspired the naming of this ribbon. In this colorway there are multiple shades of Blue-Green and an almost true blue but it's a bit more to the Teal/Turquoise side. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Occasionally there will be a little pattern here or there. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful jewel or floral toned colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/4" to nearly 1" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
