I recently went to visit Glimakra's facility in Eugene Oregon to pick up a load of looms, accessories, books, etc... They had just gotten a new shipment of these beauties in and I was able to handpick the best from what they had. Gorgeous in any rustic decor atmosphere, even if you're not a crafter:-) Just beautiful. I also purchased some full hides. Use them for whatever fancies you - a large weaving bench, chair or sofa accents, wallhanging, or even an area rug, though they're too nice to have a lot of walking traffic I would think.
To enjoy the ultimate weaving or spinning experience you must be physically comfortable while you weave. Much research and development goes into benches and stools to be perfectly designed to provide comfort while performing your fiber craft. So why stop there?
A recent study by the University of Veterinary Medicine in Austria concluded that Reindeer Fur pads were the very best, in terms of saddle blankets, for which the study was oriented. Because of the thick and springy coats they produce, "Only the reindeer fur pads significantly decrease the MOF (Maximum overall force) and improved pressure distribution". What does this mean to us spinners and weavers? Posture is important for comfort. Comfort is important for time spent weaving or spinning (or doing anything else for that matter)
Glimakra is a producer of top of the line weaving equipment.
