Super soft and drapey, this Colorway is more of an earthy color than your typical red or orange. It falls somewhere in between, like a brick red or deep rust. It is not bright or loud, but much more the color of saffron or cayenne pepper.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. I. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. As shown in the last picture, there is an occasional pattern taking up a yard or so of this type of Sari. Shown in different lights, this is a unique and yummy colorway. Most of these ribbons measure 1/4" to 1" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them as they come or strip them into really thin ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Wash items made from this ribbon in cold water so there is no bleeding of color.
