Ivory to Beige base color with spatter dyed rust spots applied for a wonderful eye catching medley. Some areas are lighter like a butter toffee, a bit more like pumpkin or burnt orange but still earthy with no bright oranges. Occasionally the base color may have an almost flesh tone in small areas but not often. Most of the base is a creamy off white. Sometimes there will be other variations in the base color - not frequently but if you need the Rust/Cream to be strictly that with no pastel base or other color spots (I have seen violet once in awhile in with the rust speckles) let me know. Excellent for spinning art yarn, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media! This particular ribbon is softer/lighter than most, which are already very soft! If you like soft and earthy fall colors, you'll love this gorgeous colorway!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some edges are fringed,frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful earthy, yet soothing colorway. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2" to about 1" across with some areas thicker, up to 2" or wider. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
