Super soft and drapey, this earthy color is deep and multi-faceted. Deep red-brown hued shades of wine, maroon and a little deep Cranberry. Not at all bright though - just rich and earthy. A bit redder than Root Beer and more to the red wine shades and pretty deep/dark. Between the natural luster Sari Silk has and my camera's tendency to flash at the deep and moody colors, the pics may be a bit lighter than the actual ribbon colors.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a unique and yummy colorway. A bit Phatter than some of my colorways, most of these ribbons measure 3/4" to 1", even 2" across in some areas, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them as they come or strip them into really thin ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths, tassles or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for five yards.
