I had this colorway custom dyed. Super soft and drapey, this ribbon has a light luster and is just beautiful. Similar to the color of Saint Elmo's Fire (another custom colorway in my shop), only two toned and paired with Ivory/Cream. The Gold grades from Yellow-gold to an almost orange, bright flame color.
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, first picture is most accurate. Most of these ribbons measure 1/2" to about 1" wide, with a few being a tad over an inch. Many have lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
