Wonderfully soft, drapey and full of texture. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media. Light Powder or Baby Blue, Such a COOL color and wonderful for shabby chic palettes!
Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. This colorway is a light and soothing silvery blue. As is common with these ribbon skeins, there may be an occasional surprise color like gray or a slightly darker blue but they're rare and in short sections. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. Occasionally but rarely also, there will be a little pattern here or there. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful pastel/light toned colorway. It is not as blue as the last picture seems but light and airy baby blue. Ribbon width ranges from 1/4" to approximately 1/2" across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
This Sari Silk ribbon should be washed only in cold water to prevent color bleeding.
