Grade A Superior Bombyx or Mulberry Silk Caps. These caps are super soft and very clean, and their many layers pull apart easily. Excellent quality, produced by the silk worms fed only mulberry leaves. Considerably larger than hankies, each cap weighs about 1/2 oz and is multi-layered. Caps are made like bells and hankies by de-gumming cocoons and stretching them open over a frame to dry. Each cap is made of multiple large hankies. These can be stretched out in a sliver to spin, or stretched very fine for un-spun knitting. Naturally very white, these silk beautiful caps also take dye fabulously as shown in the last two pictures.
Silk is super warm in the winter and cool in the summer...the perfect fiber! Mulberry Silk is also known as Bombyx silk, Mawata Silk or Cultivated Silk. For felting soaps (or anything else) you already have a tidy little blanket to wrap and felt without worry of it separating.
