Mulberry silk, also called Bombyx or Cultivated silk, is the world's finest silk, prized for its incredible luster, fineness and strength. These "skeins" are made from the processing of mulberry silk - portions of the silk that catch in the machinery and do not come out in perfect sliver or yarn. SUPER SOFT AND LUSTROUS, as you would expect with the highest grade of silks, there is some crimp or curl to this in areas and the color is mostly a creamy white while there may be some areas of cream. They are mostly very long and strong strands of silk that can be quite versatile and used in many areas of textile craft. Clean and ready to be dyed, if so desired. These strands are arranged side by side in long sections that are skeined. You can tease them apart (some will come apart easier than others) or use them as they are. These are the highest grade of Throwster silk I have found. Last picture if of skeins hanging out in natural light.
