Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of these ribbon skeins are overdyed, which creates fantastic shading and a great range of similar hues. This yummy yellow-gold colorway runs between Lemon Yellow and Dijon. Close to the Dijon ribbon listed in my shop but a tad brighter and with less of the green hue. Some of the ribbon may have a light pattern, some have a satiny shine while others are matte. Some edges are fringed, frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture and uniqueness. Shown in different lights, this is a stunning colorway. Most of these ribbons measure 1/2" - 1" but occasionally there may be sections that measure as much as 2". Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
Listing is for 5 yards, 10 yards or a full skein which runs between 38 and 45 yards. Choose from drop-down box at upper right.
