Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade, where women work to earn a living in co-ops. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon/yarn. In this colorway there are reds of varying shades - true red, brck red, cinnabar red, etc.. - giving a fairly solid color ribbon plenty of visual texture. It is not as magenta as the pictures make it seem - more of a true red with no pink or purple influence. These ribbons measure 1/2 - 3/4 inches across, with some fringe, others frayed, excellent for Boho projects. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
