Nancy's Knit Knacks specialize in creating professional products that make working with yarn easier for the Fiber Artist. Yarn Pets make life easier for the Knitter or Crocheter! This small tool can be used anywhere (on the floor, on a coffee table, in the car (while a passenger). The yarn can go in any direction after going thru the guide. Everything comes apart in less than 1 minute.

Nancy's Knit Knacks Yarn Pet tool holds your yarn balls/cones (or cones), allowing you to unwind the yarn as you use it, in an orderly manner without adding more twist to the yarn. With the Yarn Pet, the knitter/crocheter never has to "tug" on the ball of yarn to free up the yarn. The yarn just magically comes off of the ball as you knit/crochet. It works in that manner because of the way we designed the Yarn Pet. The ball rests on a wooden disk that freely rotates around the stainless steel rod. As the knitter/crocheter works, that simple pulling action that the needles/hook generate is enough energy to cause the ball or cone to turn and dispense the yarn to the knitter/crocheter. The yarn goes through an adjustable guide as well so the knitter/crocheter can adjust the tension of the yarn as it is delivered to their needles. It all works so well you have to experience it to see how neat it really is. It will change the way that you knit/crochet insomuch that you no longer have to take valuable time to pull the yarn free of the ball which is a needless and time-consuming distraction (even though you have probably done this forever).

SINGLE YARN PET: The unit comes complete with a 4" x 6" Maple Hardwood base, an adjustable guide, a stainless steel rod (3 different lengths are available), 2 shaft collars, an Allen Wrench, and a wooden disk. It comes with your choice of 6 3/4" rods or 8-1/4" rods, depending on the size balls or cones you typically use. Yarn Pet Technology spins the cones on the rods while dispensing yarn to the user. The yarn is never re-twisted and can be individually tensioned by our onboard tensioner for each cone. Each tensioner post can be turned to adjust the tension on that cone.

ADDITIONAL RODS or CLAMPS AVAILABLE: You can have extra rods on hand to swap out to the larger (11 1/4") or smaller (8 1/4") for the size balls/cones you are using. Available also in drop down options singly, at the bottom of the list. Additional rods purchased along WITH a Yarn Pet ship for $2.99. If you're looking for rods only, message me as they would ship without the Pet for $3.99 if you purchase 1, 2, 3, or 4 rods.

All come complete with a detailed set of instructions, adjustable guides, a stainless steel rod, shaft collars, an allen wrench, and wooden disks.
Whichever way you use it you will love it. It is the first truly capable cone holder that actually enhances the way the cones dispense yarn.

We offer 4" and 6" guides depending on what size cones you use. You want to have the guide at the middle of the cone approximately.

You can also purchase a Cone Adapter Kit, so that the Yarn Pet or Yarn Pet Duo will hold a ball or a cone of yarn. ($7.50) You will need two cone adapters for the Yarn Pet Duo, if you want to use two cones at a time. You can purchase a table clamp to keep ($4.50) the Yarn Pet stationary.

This listing is for the Yarn Pet (holds 1 ball of yarn), Yarn Pet Duo (holds two balls) or Yarn Pet Trio (three balls/cones). Choose from drop down box at upper right.

Directions: Nancy's Knit Knacks recommend that once you determine the height that you want the ball to rest on the wooden disk at, then you tighten the 2 small shaft collars with the allen wrench and then the rod and disk will be assembled together and locked in place. This enables you to place the disk and shaft assembly into your knitting bag along with the platform and guide.

Note: Balls wound at the mill and not by a standard ball winder from a skein, are referred to as mill balls or mill wound yarn. These are long balls and are not the conventional cakes of yarn that a ball winder would make. These types of balls will work on the Yarn Pet. If you raise the wood disc such that the top of the ball is slightly higher than the rod, then there seems to be no problem using the Pet series of products with this type of ball. You should also avoid using the yarn guidepost when using these balls. That will allow the yarn to better navigate around the top of the ball and not get tangled. Because our design allows the user to raise or lower the disk height, we are able to work around this problem.
