These beautifully crafted shuttles are made of smooth Maple, are lightweight for easy throwing and have tapered ends to slide easily into the shed. Roomy with two or three crossbars, they can hold a lot of yarn and rag or rug stripping. All these shuttles are meant to load up with bulky yarn and/or lots of it, holding much more than boat or stick shuttles. Excellent for use in most types of weaving - Saori, Rigid Heddle, Rug Loom and all Floor loom weaving.
RAG SHUTTLES: (2nd and 4th Pictures) are broad, sturdy shuttles and have been traditionally used for rag weaving, though they are also excellent for medium to heavy rug wools and bulky chenilles.
14 " Shuttle measures 14" X 2" x 1 3/4" (35.6 cm x 5.08 cm x 4.44 cm) The 2 Crosspins are spaced 9" apart.
20" Double Ski/Rug Shuttle made by Schacht, measures 20" X 2" X 1 3/4" (50.8 cm x 5.08 cm x 4.44 cm) The 3 Crosspins are 7.5" (19.05 cm) apart.
Schacht 14" Rag Shuttle has a low 1 5/8" profile and is smooth-sided giving smooth access through narrower sheds. Easy to wind.
Schacht 20" Rag Shuttle has a nearly 1 3/4 profile, also smooth sided.

SKI/RAG SHUTTLES (pictured last) come in lengths of 18" or 19" lengths. Need a shuttle to hold more weft? These beautifully crafted ski shuttles are made to hold medium to heavy yarns.
Schacht 18" or 24" ski shuttles are designed so that the yarn is wrapped horizontally around the top of the ski. This leaves a smooth bottom for sliding smoothly across the warp. The
18" Schacht ski shuttle has a sturdy spine that measures 15 5/8" running down the center along the length of their shuttle. Low Profile for ease of throwing, the highest point of the spin measures only 1 5/8" high. It's width is narrow, at approximately 1 1/2" wide.
24" Schacht ski shuttle also has a sturdy spine that measures 18 5/8" running down the center of the shuttle. Low profile of 1 5/8" also.
Harrisville makes their smoothly finished ski shuttles in 19 1/2" length and an almost 2" width for really loading a lot of yarn on them. These shuttles are designed like Glimakra's in that they have an open middle, designed so that you can wind yarn around it or in a figure 8 pattern. The curved design allows you to hold even more yarn and prevents the shuttle from catching warp ends as you weave. The overall length of the ski shuttle is 19.5" and the height is 1-1/2". Perfect for rug looms.
Glimakra's Ski Shuttles come in both a 19 1/5" length and a 25" length. They are smooth, lightly finished with new eco-friendly finish. Like Harrisville, these Swedish shuttles have the open middle so that you can wind your yarn in a figure 8 pattern.
Glimakra's Double Ski Shuttles come in both a 12" size and a 19 1/4" length.
