Ashland Bay created this beautifully deep and rich shade of Maroon. When they discontinued it (because it was close to their Wine color, but a tad deeper), I bought up a ton of it as it was a really good seller for me and a gorgeous earthy color. This is Ashland Bay 64’s (21.5 micron) merino roving and is next to skin soft. It is a great winter color and wonderful for those times you want something other than a true red. Slightly more purple and brown to it's hue than wine, which contains more of a true red. It is one of the base colors in their multi colorway Cranberry. I will combine it in an Ashland Bay Expanded Reds grouping as well. A very high quality merino, this is excellent for spinning, wet and nuno felting and even needle felting.
