Schacht has discontinued production of their Hi-Lo Spindles. I bought all they had when they announced this so I still have some. These spindles offer the best of both whorls: a brass hook at the top for top/high-whorl spinning and a grooved shaft for bottom/low-whorl spinning. Schacht Hi-Lo Spindles are made of hard maple and finished with Danish Oil. Two sizes offer a nice spectrum of spinning capabilities:
2½" diameter – 1.1 oz (31g) Approximately 10 3/4" long end to end. 3" diameter – Out of stock 4" diameter – 3 oz (85g) Approximately 12 1/2" long end to end.
Spindle comes with 1 ounce of top quality spinning wool from heritage longwool breeds, such as BFL, Shetland, Cheviot, Polworth, Wensleydale and Gotland top. The white/cream wool is ecru and takes dye very well.
