Top Whorl Spindle

This listing is for four finely crafted drop spindles, top whorl. Great for taking to a spinning group, guild or class. Also to take along when vacationing, rather than risk losing your favorite spindle, this is a great spindle to learn to spin with. It is very well made and more affordable than the much more expensive drop spindles. The conical shape of the whorl puts most of the weight along the perimeter, helping the spindle spin longer and stay more stable. A notch in the whorl helps keep your spun yarn in place. Both the whorl and the shaft are custom crafted from hard maple, sanded until smooth, and finished with a satin danish oil. The spindle is 10" long, rounded on both tips, has a 2.5" whorl, and weighs 1.8 ounces. These are often 2nds for various reasons, a small discoloration, tiny "run" in the finish, or a tiny knot. I personally, have not seen one (out of hundreds that I have sold) that doesn't look perfect to my eye. That is because of the incredibly high standards this company has, even on their seconds. These possible imperfections do not affect the use of these spindles and they will spin up your yarn as well as the perfect ones, but at a much lower price.
