Okay, even the sheep are crazy about this! Can't keep 'em out of it as you can see:) These hankies are super soft and very clean, and their many layers pull apart easily. The best quality silk you can buy - It is produced from the silk worms of the Bombyx Mori Moth. Their diet consists of Mulberry leaves. Mulberry silk is produced in a controlled warm environment. Similar to the caps or bells, hankies are made by de-gumming cocoons and stretching them open over a frame to dry. Each hanky is made of numerous cocoons and measures 10 1/2" - 11" square. You can pull them as thick or thin as you like. It can be stretched out in a sliver to spin, or stretched very fine for un-spun knitting. Naturally very white, these silk hankies also take dye fabulously as shown in the last two pictures.
Silk is super warm in the winter and cool in the summer...the perfect fiber! Mulberry Silk is also known as Bombyx silk, Mawata Silk or Cultivated Silk. For felting soaps (or anything else) you already have a tidy little blanket to wrap and felt without worry of it separating.
