This Rigid Heddle Loom by Beka is an excellent entry level loom if you've been thinking you want to get into weaving but don't want to invest a lot of money or space in your home. The most intimidating part of setting up a weaving project is the warp, so Beka does the first one for you! The complete instructions will walk you through setting up future warps with no trouble. With the small footprint these looms occupy, they can slide under a couch or onto a closet shelf when not in use
Available in 4" weaving width (outside measurements: 6" wide by 21-1/2" long) OR 10" Weaving Width (outside measurements: 12" Wide X 21 1/2" long).
4" Width: This loom comes with an 8 DPI reed, shuttle, instructions and it is already warped for your first project (up to four feet long). They include some yarn so you can start weaving right out of the box. You'll use your own yarn from that point on and to finish your project.
10" Width: This size also comes with first project warped up, yarn for starting and getting used to weaving on it, a 4" wide 8 DPI heddle, full instructions and a shuttle. And of course a 10" wide (10 dent) heddle is also included. Weaves projects up to 10" wide X 3 yards long. Weight 4 lbs.
Beka Looms are made of Maple hardwood and comes assembled. Easy to use - holds your warp nicely and you can advance the warp as you go. These looms are very similar to a back strap loom or band weaving (only with a frame).
The most common tools weavers have multiples of are shuttles, so there is also an option of Loom + Cards + Extra Shuttle in both sizes.
