This Cotton/Sari Silk Plied Yarn is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be fabric waste, from cutting cotton and/or sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. The sari ribbon and the bulky cotton yarn is then plied together to create phat, one of a kind skeins that are absolutely loaded with both physical and visual texture. This yarn is intended for the shabby chic, distressed Boho look and is not a tightly spun/finished yarn. You could ply it in with art yarns and or those super bulky fun yarns. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, wreaths, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
