Soft as a cloud, I am in LOVE with this wonderful Mulberry Silk product! It's got fantastic luster, wonderful creamy color and comes in 2 oz (approx. 50 gram) skeins. Yardage averages 100 - 115 yards per skein. This is almost like a super fine roving - falling somewhere between a heavy worsted and bulky weight yarn - would make a killer addition to your art yarn! Knit, crochet, weave, ply or braid with this fabulous silk.
Cultivated silk is from silk worms that are fed exclusively mullberry leaves, for production of the finest and naturally whitest silk there is. For that reason, it is also called Mullberry Silk. This yarn is fantastic for dyeing and even overdyeing. Also great in plying with other yarns. This roving/yarn is unbleached so is a natural Ivory or Cream color.
These skeins are ecru, as shown in the first three pictures. The fourth and last pictures show how spectacularly this silk dyes up! My daughter was dyeing a bunch of silk scarves for her nuno shop and threw a skein in each dyepot. They are shown in the last photos. These colors are also available if you like for only $1 more. Average rating on this yarn is a full five stars!
