Recent Review: *****"If you are considering using any of the alternative fibers -- you need this alternative fiber assortment! It was definitely any eye-opener for me, in being able to see and touch the fibers. There's plenty enough to do some test spinning with each fiber. Truly an excellent purchase!"*****G. N. February 2018

Ever wonder about those attractive alternative fiber types? This collection offers a versatile selection of 10 unusual fibers, offering visual as well as physical texture. Each of these fiber types is unique in its own way, as explained after each of their names. They all differ in fineness, luster, weight, staple and even color. All are all great in blending, spinning, felting (both needle and wet) as well as plying with other wool types. With this collection you can familiarize yourself with the look and feel of some of the most unusual fiber! Each will feel and look a bit different. Some are high gloss and some not at all. They will all take dye a bit differently. In this assortment there are 10 fiber types from this list:

Hemp (Straight, no luster natural honey color)
Soysilk (High luster light and silky and quite drapey)
Mint (Cellulose fiber infused with powdered mint leaves, silky feel - this one may also be rose or pearl, even crab-shell, all made the same way)
Milk Protein Top (Bright but low luster, light and silky, good hand)
Tencel (High luster, strong/durable, medium weight and silky, very fine)
Flax (Strong, durable fiber with nice natural luster. Unbleached, makes linen)
Snow Mountain (a very fine nylon with the feel of cashmere, lower luster, density and "fluff)
Tussah Silk (medium-high luster, very fine, drapey. Dark Honey Tussah carries less luster but still super-soft and drapey)
Bamboo Top (High luster, drapey, fantastic in wet felting because of the shape it forms)
Ramie (Made from Nettles, similar in texture to a very fine flax/linen)
Corn Fiber (Blend of Bamboo silk and corn silk) Light and lustrous.
Rose Silk Fiber (Blend of cellulose and rose fiber) feels like silk or bamboo with nice drape.
Crabshell (cellulose blended with powdered crabshell) Light and silky with nice luster

Seacell (ultra lustrous viscose fiber)

I modify this sampler from time to time as I get more rare fiber types in stock. More about each fiber can be found in their individual listings in my shop. Each will come labeled in its own re-closable bag, as shown in the second picture so you can know them apart as you become more familiar with each.

Listing is for approximately 1/2 ounce (14.2 grams) of each type, for a total of approximately 5 ounces (141.75 grams) providing enough to blend into some great projects.

Pictured in natural light. Most of these fibers are white/ecru. Some of these fiber types are unbleached and natural. Soy comes in a golden honey color. Mohair comes in white, black and a dozen or so hand-dyed colors that I've done. I
